The mission of Student Support Services
is to promote the success of students at St. Joseph College
. Services include advising and counseling, assessment testing,
academic support through the Tutor Program, career center services,
and financial aid including student employment opportunities
on campus. Student Services is committed to provide students
with the information needed to make the many decisions affecting
the life in college and beyond.
The college also extends help and support available for those
with a disability or medical condition and also for students
experiencing personal difficulties or issues. The facilities
provided includes:
Learning Resource Centre
The mandate of the Learning Resource Centre
is to provide effective and efficient Library, Learning Technology.
The college has a full-fledged reference library containing
books, reports and magazines available for perusal along with
media resources such as CDs with viewing and listening facilities.
All students enrolled in the college have access to wide range
of computing facilities supporting their studies with upgraded
network incorporated to in calculate the latest in computing
technology including the use of the most up to date word processing
software, internal and external e-mail facilities and access
to internet. The library with its stimulating and intellectual
environment is a heavenly refuge for those engaged in intellectual
pursuits. Library personnel assist students, faculty and staff
with their research and information and educational needs by
using the latest in library and information services. The library
provides both electronic and physical access to information
resources and services.
Banking
St Joseph College provides banking facilities
for all the students. Students can also avail the educational
loan facility provided through the Bank.
Computer Lab
St Joseph College maintains a Computer
Lab for students, faculty, and staff. Computer technology is
rapidly changing and a wide range of software will be available
in the lab. Concerned faculty should make available to the student
any software that is necessary for a class. The college also
maintains several servers, which are accessible from anywhere
on campus. These servers provide a wide range of software and
services such as e-mail, newsgroups, web pages, and network
printing to students. The lab also has a high-speed internet
connectivity using a VSAT station, enabling the faculty and
students to link up with the outside world uninterruptedly.
Cafeteria
The institute has an aesthetically designed
cafeteria, which serves wholesome meals to the students, staff
and faculty at subsidized rates. The cafeteria provides an assortment
of choices including hot meals, sandwiches, pizza, soup, and
assorted beverages and snack items. Traditional fast food and
commercial restaurant services are available a short driving
distance from the College.
Accomodation
St. Joseph College offers different types
of accommodation to suit different students’ requirements: there
are halls of residence, student houses and intercollegiate halls
. The accommodation office at the college assists students to
find accommodation with good facilities available at a reasonable
cost. The college has accommodation services to students who
require assistance with organizing their accommodation and provides
information on the types of accommodation available. The Accommodation
Office keeps a register of privately rented bed-sits, lodgings,
flats and houses, which students can share. The College keeps
under review the quality and style of its accommodation provision.
The accommodation office of the college work with local accommodation
agencies, landlords and households to provide a selection of
suitable student houses for let during the term time.
Sports and Recreation facilities
St. Joseph College is committed to the
education, physical well-being and growth of the students. College
has sporting facilities including a modern and full-equipped
sports and leisure centre featuring a state-of-the-art gym and
sports hall. Recreational facilities offer students, staff,
and faculty the opportunity to engage in recreational activities
that promote a healthy lifestyle. The students are encouraged
to pursue their leisure and sporting interests in a comprehensive
recreational programme. A variety of activities are available
for all levels of ability from the recreational to the competitive.
This provision is intended to improve levels of personal fitness,
provide challenging experiences, and promote social interaction
and to encourage students to achieve higher standards in their
sport .
Health Care
The Healthcare centers offer medical facility
and assistance for the students and each student will be put
under the supervision of a registered General Practitioner thus
catering for the health and welfare needs of the student. This
healthcare centers helps the students learn simple and effective
methods for creating and maintaining a balanced state of health..
Career Advice
The career Advisory service offers guidance
to students from the time they join the course. Throughout the
programme career guidance is provided by the specialists in
the field and Industrial coordinators under the supervision
of faculty member. This provides comprehensive career planning,
employment and job search services to St.Joseph students .
Placement
The college maintains an active placement
service to assist students in locating entry-level, educationally
related career opportunities. The Placement cell helps the students
by providing part time job opportunities during the course period.
Job vacancies will be notified to students as and when it occurs.
This will help the students in procuring relevant work experience
along with their course. The placement cell makes a dedicated
attempt to find out gainful employment for its students in reputed
organizations of the country.
Counseling
The college has a counseling cell handed
over by professionally trained staff and experienced counselors
who provide individual support to the students who are concerned
due to loneliness, uncertainty about choice, academic worries
and anxiety. The counseling program provides counseling services
to students free of charge for a wide variety of issues and
personal concerns. Services are provided through individual
counseling sessions or group counseling. The aim of the Service
is to help students whose concerns may be adversely affecting
their emotional well being and/or impeding their personal or
academic development.
